So now that I am back in the Northants area, I am keen in getting a few more FOW games in.
What better way of doing this than organising a little FOW league!
Looking at previous posts I see that there has been a bit of interest in this in the past. So I have put a little poll together to see if we have any interest an if so what period people would like to play.
I am more than happy to administrate the league and I have a few ideas to hopefully keep people's interest up.
So ... on to the ideas...
1. I would propose that once we have an idea of who is keen to play we organise a fixtures list with 'home' and 'away' matches / games. The home player would get to choose the mission to be played (from a pre determined list of official missions). This will give the home player the homefield advantage of choosing a mission that (hopefully!) suits his army list. It also means that we can play a variety of missions throughout the league which should help keep interest up.
2. If players are keen we can run the league on an escalation basis (starting off at say 500 / 750 points for the first couple of matches, then on to 1000 and finally up to 1500 / 1750 (depending on period). This will really help players that are just getting into the game or particular period or are just building a new army as they wont need to purchase and paint the whole 1750 points worth in one go. The alternative to this would be perhaps to agree a points value for army lists and then agree say a 500 points swap out for the list - Similar to the system Nobby runs at his most excellent Corrivalry tournaments. This way you can flavour your list to deal with attacking or defending against armour heavy or infantry heavy opponents etc.
3. Similar to the Battlefront Infantry Aces system once players get to a pre determined game points score they can choose an attribute (again from a pre-determined list) for their company commander which will give him either additional skills or enable him to influence the game in some way (eg re roll a reserves dice etc)
I have a few other ideas that I will keep up my sleeve until we see if there is enough interest in kicking the league off.
I suppose we need a minimum of 4 / 5 interested players that would be able to commit to 1 or ideally 2 FOW league matches a month (the club all dayers would be a great opportunity to play catch up matches or get ahead of the schedule.
In order for the home / away fixtures to work properly everyone would need to play each other twice (giving the opportunity for some 'grudge' matches!
So get the ball rolling and post your answers to the poll and throw in some ideas of your own on how the league should run.
Cheers
Roddy
