As some will know I have had time on my hands, due to a medical condition, clearly true sign of illness is the wargaming and painting factor, well nothing touched in four weeks, larry lead head will be turning in his cartoon. Anyway I have read the Flames rules, Blitszkrieg and Africa, ok old money but had to do something. SOoooo What size army is typically played at the club?? I can do lists for Germans, Brits and Americans. I do have the new rules somewhere, still no doubt in an unpacked box since the house move. I tend not to take the heavy stuff, but prefer to play the early to mid Africa lists. I have toyed with Motorised Infantry and Tank based as two options for each army, some a bit scratchy. Looking forward to advice, do I need to get that Tiger painted?? cheers

Late war is what most at the club play except michael and myself with desert rats. 1500 points seems to be the favoured size or 1750. I can do about 2500 at a stretch mid war but that is very sherman and artillery heavy and not as realistic so 1500-1750 for a more realistic force At late war i can do around 1400 max using my rats as canadian recce squadron. I have found 1000 points is a very playable game to start with. Would you like me to drop over the new rules and new Africa books? We could then ave a game at yours when your better since due work and family the club is on the back burner for a while.

the new box set is a good starting point, and you get the new rulebook which is good plus the models of course

Good to see you last night James, one advantage of forced rest is time to read, so have been sad enough to compare old Africa with current North Africa. Quite a difference and army lists adjusted accordingly. Now have six lists two german, two british and two USA approx 1750 - each nationality with a tank based and alternative infantry based list. Followed by small order to Maelstrum for german trucks and British 2pdrs. Happy to focus on this book for Flames - looks like many options to play around with, good result and something to take my mind off the drudgery of "rest". appreciated Paul
