the new Armies of Antiquity is available on the Warhammer Historical website.
Fi, Fi I say on all those doom-mongers who sad the end of the WAB World was nigh.
It's ALIVE!!!!!
As you may have guessed I'm fairly happy about this.
My copy has been ordered

Green with envy and cursing my mechanic! I will have to have a look although a rumour did state that models were more expenisve pointswise, pointing to 2400pts now being an equivalant of the old 2000pts. Any substance to this rumour?

I have heard this as well, may be the points match with clash of empires which has similalry revised points values - but gives a bigger game. I imagine its just a reworking pf point values to get more equity between different troop types, seems logical to me.

rumour is FALSE - 2800 new points are roughly 2000 old points.
OK - news so far
No picturess, lots of lists
Early Hoplite Greek - 1 list with 4 variants Late Hoplite Greek - 1 list 3 variants Vikings - 1 list 0 variants - Godi - gone, berserker no longer leaps out at you Normans & Bretons 1 list, 3 variantss (includes Italo Normans) Norman Knights can't have Javelins
Points look slightly higher.
If anybody has a specific list in mind let me know and I'll give you an idea of the sort of changes (if I can remember what th original list looked like)
Overall I like it - it was what I expected, I miss some of the Supplement detail - BUT that is not necessarily a bad thing

Does it have late Anglo-saxon lists? and does this mean I have bought shieldwall when actually it is now null and void. Will we use the new lists as Axes this year - endless questions why is it not a club night!

Quick peak suggests that Picts no longer have pikes (but to be fair I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right list)
The summer WAB competion will probabably use AoA2 - simply as it will solve x-book issues
The WAB campaign may still stick with Shieldwall - as it provides more detail / feel of the era.
ALL of these desicions are subject to change once I have had a chance to read the book - and play a few games with the new lists
