i am still looking to do this league but not until all who want to play have played a few games and are happy for it to start.
so for those of you who want to join in it's up to you to play some games and let me know when you want to kick things off.
also, as one or two may only have the basic fleet boxes do we want to restrict it to those only and see how it pans out???
thoughts please!

We could. I don't mind playing at a smaller points scale, although I'd rather not have to stick to exactly what's in the box. As the Burning Suns heavy bomber is a bit rubbish.
But even that's slightly problematic, as some of the starter boxes aren't as many points as others. Warrens French for instance appears to be a good 30 - 40 points less than what you get in the Burning Suns box. As his Cruisers and Heavy Bombers are both cheaper.

it is true that the starter boxes are a bit different for each force and perhaps this is good marketing as if they aren't equal it aids in the sale of add ons etc
so, are people ok with the points i have put down for this or would you rather see something else, and if so, what points would you like.

Chap from the Rift in Peterborough wanted to know how many play Dystopian wars at the Phoenix and I said about 5 or 6. I believe he wishes to put on something - maybe a tournament or something like that at his shop. I asked him to have a look at our forum hopefully he will reply.

There were positive murmurs last night about doing a league - although possibly a little late this year however I don't mind starting the league in Jan 2013. We should use Carl's original plan with just the naval stuff only and use the same format. I don't mind keeping tabs on reports, results and the table. So those that are up for this please sign below for a JAn 2013 start. Please put down which faction you are playing.

I will write up a revised rulespack for the league over the next fortnight and put it up.

I think we should play you get points for what you destroy rather than the silly warhammeresque only if you destroy the whole squadron. For instance 3 frigates in a squadron you destroy one and you still get its points although there are still 2 left (don't get points for stuff you don't destroy). Are we using cards here - yes or no?
When I do the rulespack I will create a new thread titled Dystopian wars League 2013. So till then could we have some input about what people wish for bearing in mind it will be just naval . I advocate the use of small airplanes in this as its just singles matches. If we play 800 pts then some of us will need to dig a little deeper into santa's pockets to find a few extras to make it it up to 800pts. Some battle box sets don't barely scratch the 700pts mark. Mine is only about 680pts. I like the idea of changing your battlelist for each game although it could be argued that players with a large repertoire of ships / other gubbins in their collection will be at a distinct advantage to perhaps tailor their list against the players with just naval battle boxes.
So what do we think here - keep the same list that will be handed in to me prior to any dice being thrown or tailor lists to your next opponent? The second option cannot be verified by the League umpire (namely me) unless its submitted to me before your game (which will be a pain in the posterior for all involved).

i'm in with Prussians.
as for points you can pay extra to upgrade some ships but you could limit it to less than 800 if you want mate, up to you as you are running the show.

I'm in with my Burning Suns fleet.
I mildly prefer the option to change the fleet around between games, mostly as while I've got a little over 800 points, maybe 900 ish, I'm not sure exactly what combination of stuff is actually good as I've not played many games with them yet.
The simplest solution would be to get your opponent to check your list (either before or after the game) to ensure that you're under the 800 points and that your fleet is legal in terms of the ratio's of ship classes.
Also I'm assuming that the air stuff is fine to be used.

In with FSA. I too would say 800 is a good mark. Most fleets are around the 700 mark and with most medium ships and fliers weighing in at around 50-60 points each then one extra blister would do it for most fleets.

Naturelment I weel be playing ze French.
800pts seems to be the going rate so we will stick to this. Although you can see my point about the changing of lists to tailor against your next opponent. I suppose if I buy a few more models then I will be in the same boat as everyone else (pun intended).
Little flyers will be accepted although you will have to mark their status before the game. As these come for free they will not incur any points to the opposition if they are destroyed.
Larger flyers and transformer like models will be accepted also - just no ground forces.
I take it that Dave will be in with his Antarctica penguins?

I have looked at the original potential rules from Carl which I will be mostly implementing into the 2013 rulespack. However I am not really keen on the home and away bit. We don't want a lag of games and by the current count we have
Pete - Yanks and a few wannabe Yank Canadians Dave - Antarctica Penguins Me - Sea Snails Carl - Spiky hats and curly moustaches Stephen - Kamikaze bandits Paul =- possibly stiff upper lips?? Darren - TBA
We had about the same number for the WFB SFS tournament and this has been taking an age to finish. So I really don't want to have twice the number of games on this. So just the one game against all is fine so that people aren't pressurised into playing weekly and can indulge in other wargaming genres. This would amount to 5 games (one or two a month) each.
I have thought of small secret mission bonuses. These will add to your battle point score - not your VPs. There will be the same choice number for every player you play against. For instance if you are going to play against five other players in the League then you will have five to choose from. You will only be allowed to play just one and once played you cannot use it again. Some secret missions will differ in rewards but as everybody has the same opportunity to grab them equally then there should not be any unbalanced discrepancies.
I have already made my mind to what they are so you will have to wait for the rulespack. Thoughts?
