Zulus thousands of 'em - I was hoping Warlord would provide the stuff....
I don't think Hastings is a goer as its too big - what about a 'what if' scenario such as the saxons trying to stop the Normans getting off Pevensey Beach....
Or a skirmish scenario based around say Stamford Bridge and the legend of the champion who held the bridge until a saxon floated along in a beer barrel and stabbed him from below OR a Viking Raid - I think there is something to be said about having a skirmish game thats quick and fun involved in Kelmarsh.

if you want a dark age skirmish game the SAGA might be good.
we have done zulus 2 years running so might be good to leave those out for 2012

Sorting through various stuff I came across the "Normans" supplement for "Revenge" (yet another rule set I own and have never played ). Why mention it here? Because the supplement provides a number of scenarios for Historical battles including - - Stamford Bridge
- Hastings,
- Lincoln etc
complete with maps, forces, deployment etc ,(sadly no Fulford) a quick glance suggests that these can very quickly be adapted - the fact that for most battles they have a left, centre, right structure with 3-4 units in each "command" suggests very easy conversion to HC without too much hassle If anybody is interested in looking at these let me know and I'll bring them down the club There is a really silly idea I have - which involves 6mm figures, HC, a lot of research, three "boards" and a bit of cunning - which results in us fighting the 1066 campaign in order (Fulford, Stamford, Hastings) and using the results of one battle to influence the next - but it needs a lot more thinking through at the moment ;D

Carl - I'll help with the bolt action I think rather than do the dark ages or romans as I am pretty hooked on this too. Plus my paras are all painted at the mo!
If anyone needs my Romans, Saxons or ECW armies for Kelmarsh let me know and I'll try and have them ready before the event this year!

Excellent James. Will chat with you soon re developing a scenario or adapting one from the rulebook. also, if the book is out by then we could of course ask to get them signed by the author.
i think Rick is working on a playsheet as well.
i too can supply ECW stuff if needed by anyone and of course by then Normans and/or Vikings.

Carl love the idea of the bolt action for kelmarsh would be very willing to provide a small dutch town if the offer of Warlords is still on, also saga would be good but i think could be to complex for a particaption game.

I think I'm looking down the Persians vs Macedonians - probably end up doing Gaugemela.

ok. so thats 3 tables probably sorted with paul poss doing ECW.
could do with at least one more guys.
perhaps this year we go down the route of four BIG tables rather than 6 smaller ones as they may be easier to manage as well, and people can cover for each other better when breaks are taken

Not too sure about that - I think variety is always the spice of life. It may seem a bit limited or boring for punters with just four games on.

it depends on numbers of people who want to run games mate and who wants to attend.
dont want to spread ourselves so thin we are struggling to get breaks in etc.
i think four big tables will be fine but will wait and see who wants to do what

Ok I will be using an 8 x 6 table (bigger if possible) and will be doing the Gaugemela game - I would need the use of both the sandy roll ups for this. If anybody has any spare Macedonians, Greeks or Persians that they could lend for this to bolster troop numbers and save me a huge amount of painting I would be grateful. I was toying with the battle of Marathon but this is very similar to Thermopylae. There is also another battle which is Alexander's road to Persepolis here the roles are reversed as the Persians are the one's defending a pass in the mountian. Again too similar to Thermopylae.
I'll probably end up using the roster from the Alexander book (points won't come into this at all). This means I really need a whole host of Persian Cavalry. I have two units so far and a third being built for the summer. If anybody has any others I could really do with lending them for Kelmarsh.
The only problem with Gaugemela is that there is hardly any terrain just a hilly bit (dune?) with the Macedonians, a huge desert plain, very sparse trees to the sides and a river behind the Persians. I will probably use the bush and tree terrain that Julie made for the Zulu game.

we have some sand dunes/hills that we bought with the mat but there is only one sand mat, we didn't buy two of those mate.
the two large green ones are the ones i was going to bag for the WW2 game
