this post will be open until 11/11/11, so please put your name down here before then if you would like to put yourself forward
if any roles have more than one person wishing to stand for it, a vote will take place after the closing of the post, and this will be conducted by Simon Robinson, the club secretary.

i am putting myself forward primarily as a candidate for the position of Club Chairman, and for Vice Chairman.
if elected to the post of club chairman i will continue to work on the clubs behalf as in previous years, and this includes;
*organising the Kelmarsh event for PGC (if it goes ahead)
*liaising with Warlord Games over the clubs attendance to Salute 2012
*running the club xmas raffle
*continuing to build relationships with the wargaming companies we have dealt with in the past
*dealing with club merchandise orders
*anything else that crops up during the year
this isn't all i do but are the main ones that 'see the light of day'
if elected i wish to ensure the members that i will also do whatever i can to actively promote the development of the club and helping it to both grow and become stronger.
i will also help out where needed to organise evnts in 2012 to celebrate the clubs 15th year anniversary
i thank you in advance for considering me in this role
regards
carl king (current vice chairman)

I would like to put myself forward for the events co-ordinator.
As most will know I'm currently performing this role.
This involves the co-ordination of all the intra-club tournaments and leagues (comps).
I have also overseen and organised the two main tournaments The Rushden Rumble and Axes and Axis which have included rules comp, a ton of emailing to perspective clubs, finance, collecting and sometimes making trophies, and compering. I liase with a number of gaming clubs and over a number of gaming genres (even some that I don't play) and regularly update forum posts on about two dozen forums to advertise the tournaments.
The FoW and WAB will be parting ways and have seperate tournaments this year. So this will be an extra tournament for the workload.
Forged links with other gaming clubs for various other competitions such as the Inter-Club Team event which I captained and we won this year!
Try to galvanise other club members to join us at more local competitions for WFB fantasy and some further afield.
In the process of building an excellent relationship with Steve Barber miniatures and organising the Salute 2012 game with them.
Quiz preparation if needed.
Ensuring good relationships with other T.Os and keeping up to date with game developments on the WAB and Fantasy Scene to ensure our tournaments run smoothly.
Have organised Xmas outings in the past - but I am looking to forge relationships with some European (continental clubs) for a possible gaming tour later in the year.
I am thinking of including a blog site for the Phoenix gaming club and may even try a hand at Podcasting asking people to join me to make them. So Batreps and general chit-chat about gaming in general. Of course the Podcasting will be family friendly to the ears.
I also want to bring back some of the all day Saturday gaming events we had for the club only for really large games.
So far I have helped elevate the Phoenix Gaming Club name in gaming circles and through tournaments that it has become a respected and well known club. If elected I will continue to ensure that the name of club becomes more recognised as one of the popular clubs locally and nationally.
I realise that the above only encompasses a fraction of what I do but I hope that you all feel that I'm worth it for another year - so a pre-emptive thanks to those who say yay for me for this post.
cheers Warren Stevens

I am putting myself forword for the position of club chairman.
If elected i will continue doing the job i have been doing for the past 2 years and as i have held the position on numerous occassions i feel that my expierience in this role is my biggest asset there is very little i have not had to deal with in my time as chairman.
The role of chairman is a difficult one to define as it can encompass many diffrent jobs including assisting other committee members with there roles.
Currently i am the main contact with the GCN who we the phoenix gaming club have always played an active role in way we feel it should be run to benefit all GCN clubs.
One of the chairmans main tasks is to resolve any issues either the club or its members find themselves in something i have managed to do on more than one occasion in the past this can be a very stressfull thing as you have to put aside personnal views and put the club and its members first.
I feel that the current committee has done an exellent job over the past few years and the people in the various positions do an exellent job and i would like to thank them for there efforts. If someone else would like to take a more active roll within the club then put yourselves forward new idears and a new way of thinking is always welcome.

I would like to stand for the "no specfic role" or good at making a brew role.
Whilst currently my time is limited, (hence the "no specific role" position), but if I can add some fresh ideas and I am interested in helping. My background is that I created with some mates and ran for many years, in various roles, the kettering club, which at one time had in excess of 40 members.

I’m going to throw my hat in the ring too. Ideally I’d like to go for the ‘Without Portfolio’ role but happy to slot in wherever I can be of use.
The main thing I can bring to the table is my experience and subsequent contacts within the Games Workshop world. I’ve got friends in games development for GW and other companies, events co-ordinators, the top-level players in both 40K and Fantasy, big retailers and much more besides. Thanks to having played in tournaments for the last 11 years I’m reasonably well known on the scene and am good mates with a couple of the top Warhammer Fantasy podcasters. These are all things I can use to promote the club and our events.
Additionally I’ve undertaken extensive legal and accounting training. I can deal with the technical ins and outs and provide advice on any legal matters that may crop up, because I’ve seen and dealt with just about everything that could come up whilst working on other committees in the past.
I’d like to get more involved with the club and the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff, and would love to get stuck in!

I'm intending to stand for Treasurer again.
As ever the least exciting and most paperwork oriented committee position.

Also when did we decide that we were going to add an additional committee position? I don't remember that even being discussed at any point.
Strictly if we want a larger committee we should be adding two positions not one, purely to keep it to an odd number, so that no internal committee votes can end up as a tie.

Steve; we didn't decide it was always there just that no-one wanted to do it last time or the time before.
remember david used to be on the committee as did others who had no specific role.
this is why we should have had the new constitution and rules pack by now as this year it will be 3 years late, and all this would be covered in those docs.
also, the current rules state that ties are decided by the incumbent chairman so it doesn't matter how many people you have. as i said earlier, what if you get abstentions and there's a tie with only 4 out of 5 who vote one way or the other you still need a mechanism in place to cover this, which is where the casting vote came in. also, sometimes not everyone turns up due to last minute emergencies etc so you could end up with only 4 people at the meeting anyway.

If commitee members seriously have a problem with not being able to attend I'm sure that a proxy vote on any issue could be done. Or if not a quick phone call or video call should do it on the night, if you were able to do so - technically or physically.

to be honest if someone cant make it then the reast of the committee should be fine in deciding on anything thats needs sorting there and then, thats what its there for after all.
also, as there's an agenda anyone not being able to make it could just email one of the others with how they want to vote on any particular thing that is up for a vote in that particular meeting

Committees require a minimum to constitute an official meeting - it is usually a percentage of the whole or a minium number. If there are seven members then i would say a legally contituted meeting would be three or four with a chairman holding the casting vote only where there are drawn votes.
hope that helps
Paul

not sure what the current rules say on this, if they cover it at all in regard to minimum numbers etc. but will look at it for the new set
