All
I think this is the only remaining issue still to be confirmed for the new league. There are many counter-arguments so I think the easiest way to do it is just put it to a vote.
Options are; - No painting standards - Progress to be shown week by week (each time the army plays, it must have more models painted than the last time) - All models basecoated (they will need to have 3 colours on them but not necessarily finished or based) - All models fully painted
If there's another option you want to put forward then please yell and we can talk it through!

I'll close the poll down in a week or so.
Looks like we're heading for fully painted, which means I need to get cracking finishing my lootas off as well!

You know I feel - mine might not be very good but they are all based and painted.

I'll be honest, I just flat don't enjoy painting. I've likened it to Chinese water torture before now and I pretty much only paint because I have to, and to a deadline for an event. Not once have I ever thought 'right, I'm going to go and paint this figure because it looks fun'.
I've never seen painted armies as a 'respect' thing. You respect your opponent by the way you play the game, not whether or not you can paint. Personally I can't and as I've said I just don't find it any fun whatsoever.

I also dislike painting. 20 minutes here or there is ok, any more than that and I very quickly get first bored and then annoyed. I can paint to a pretty decent standard, I just don't enjoy doing it.
On the other hand I also dislike playing with unpainted figures, as I think they just look really rubbish on the table. I don't have a minimum standard however, and I don't really object to playing someone who's got unpainted figures. I tend to encourage people to get things painted (as I do myself) purely as the games look better.

I think if people have taken the trouble to paint up their figures (as it is a major part of the hobby) then they would expect to have opponents do likewise. Granted that some people don't like doing it or haven't the time, I believe a little time here and there on them is worth it. I'm with Stephen on the issue that it makes the game look better and you can see what is what. Passerbyes who are merely looking or observing your game can instantly recognise models and see what they are supposed to look like. Also as a club it gives a good impression.

Just a reminder - following on from this vote all models used must be fully painted. You wanted it, you got it, you gotta comply with it!
