Essentially the tournie idea would be run on the Swiss system so you would only have the winner players from previous rounds on the top tables. Yes I understand that it may not be everybody vs everybody but it will stop a 6 month league turning into a 10 month slog because of inactivity and missed games / opportunities. This could allow others to focus on other systems in the year, as they have done this year to the detriment of the SFS. With x2 leagues of 5 each you would only get 4 games and the two play off and finals. Which would be a lot better than the 7 we had to play this year. However we could put this to a vote later and let the potential entrants decide.
I'm quite looking forward to the WAB campaign. WFB aside I thought Carl was championing 40K for the SFS trophy anyway for next year? So all this talk about WFB is quite irrelevant if we are not allowed to do it - however the year after.....?

i didn't say anything about not being allowed to do WFB for the SFS just that Simon played both games and not everyone in the club plays fantasy and i think it would be good to alternate the system each time so you dont get the same people doing well each year.
some of the fantasy players also do 40k, and yes i know some dont, but that isn't the point of the trophy. the point was and is always going to be in honour of Simon and he played both games not just the one. the SFS has been WFB for three straight years so i dont see why it cant be 40k next time around.
i dont do either now so i cant enter or win and i was a very good friend of his, i just wanted it to reflect what Simon did and not tun into a one trick pony type of event.
personally i think the 40k league will be a good way of getting more people back playing this game and then once the league is done then the SFS could continue the 40k theme on from this starting in say July.
at the end of the day why not put it to a vote and see what those members think who would actually want to take part and then you have a simple answer to it.

The Swiss system? Full of holes but with lots of different options...

Carl - I did say Championing which meant to me put forward a strong case for 40K and notice the word"if" which was not aimed at you but rather to a collective no from all via a vote.
Yeah for all the all the right reasons there Carl; that is not in dispute which you have layed the case for several times. However it may be a good idea to 40K anyway next year but the new rules (edition) come into effect and this could be problematic. I'm unsure exactly when this would be but its best to find out when it would be best to put the 40K in - if that is what people want.
This does leave the WFB with not much to play for next year so I may just slide in a small campaign for just 5 players only. It won't be as massive and convoluted as the last one five years ago. Although all except one person liked it. Keeping this just to five players keeps down the paperwork and result number crunching that in the end became a nightmare for the T.O.
Still if the 40K does go ahead we still have the WFB one day option. If people are willing to pay a little more we could just extend for an hour, drop down the points to 1200pts and have four games. It will be pretty intensive with games only at 1hr and 45 mins Starting games at 9.30 9.30 - 11.15 game 1 11.15 - 11.30 break 11.30- 1.15 game 2 1.15- 1.45 Lunch 1.45- 3.30 game 3 3.30- 3.40 break 3.40 - 5.25 game 4
Just an idea, however we could just do 1600pts and have 3 games at 2hrs each. This would be just for Phoenix Club members. I'm sure we could get ten people interested as a one off.

Could we have an updated table? Just want to know if I still have a chance to catch Paul tonight? I know he got points against Richard last time out.

Julie and Richard's last game has been put up with a surprising crushing victory to Julie - her first this competition to put a bit of respectibility to her score. So the semi -finals are set Stephen (Skaven) vs Darrell (Daemons) Warren (O&G) vs Paul (Tomb Kings) to be played next Tuesday.

Good league guys - I feel pretty happy that one of my wins ruined steve's perfect run and that my draw was against the top ranked player.

Wins for Darrell and Warren (me) see them both facing off for the final. Just would like to say well done to Paul who gave me a cracking match - which I felt guilty in winning due to his very sporting attitude in the last round. I really had to work for those points so kudos to you Paul!

I'd also like to congratulate Darrell on his hard fought win.
That was a very close game indeed, came down to the last combat on the last turn to decide things.

Good game last night Warren, true to history your dice rolling let you down when you needed them typical of gobbos more interested in beating themselves up than a few demons so at the end of a close fought game a new era is dawning the age of mortals is at an end all hail the dark gods of chaos!!!

I know what my two big mistakes were and this was not carrying on beating up on that BSB which was on one wound - I still had enough attacks to do so - I forgot he was on one wound and not finishing off the flamers. That would have netted me 400+ in points for just 7 wounds. Can't legislate for really bad dice rolling and neither for animosity at inopportune momemts. Those Night goblins and Skarsnik of mine were going to rear charge that unit of bloodletters or go for those flesh hounds. However my black orcs done me proud, - stupid Orc archers and Stupid gobbos! There was that re-roll for the break test that you wouldn't let me take - even though I had let you get away with a spell earlier when I sportingly pointed out that you could add the spellcaster's level to it, so I was a bit put out by that and it did effectively cost me the game.
Good game though and well done on the win - it was close.
