Not to sound too evident - but does everybody who is playing in this have the rules to hand? We wouldn't want a campaign where just one person knew all the rules and the rest were told you couldn't do this or that on the day. Surely you must have given these out already or made them available on the forum. I thought you championed the Black Powder rules what happened to that? Just an enquiry and not a get at you ...so don't take it the wrong way. As the events co-ordinator I do have to be seen doing my "job". Any chance you could please post them to me for a quick perusal - just interested in the format is all. cheers mate!

Carl is running the renaissance lists as they are more specific to different army types than the warhammer ECW ones - the rules are pretty similar between the two as WR is a revision of WECW. Carl has the rules and so do I (although I have yet to fully read them) so anyone should feel free to borrow them off us. As for Blackpowder the current book is too late in period and their preview ECW rules too untested/incomplete for a balanced campaign, they are also aimed at large all day battles. Hope this helps Warren.

ditto to the above.
ALL the entrants now hav copies of the army list rules plus the campaign rules and indeed the WECW play sheets, so all is fine me thinks.
Paul and Sean are playing this week so they will infact kick things off.

I however have a question. Are we using the actual ECW game rules (as opposed to the army lists) in terms of playing the games? Or are there no differences between ECW and Renaissance system mechanics.
If not I would like a copy of the Renaissance rules before I play my first game so I can work out what the differences are.
I would personally dispute whether the Renaissance lists are more specific to the types of armies than the Warhammer ECW lists. I can see very few real differences between the two sets of lists, as Covenanters I'm missing the option of a Firelocks Company unless I take them as allies from another army list, and a few of my units have less upgrade options.

Steve; everyone has the same lists that they can draw up their armies from, this was done as two out of the six of us do not have the WECW rulebook, so i thought it fairier to hand out the renaissance lists and we got our armies from there.
James has the complete rules so if you want to borrow them after him please feel free, but i need them back the week after please.
i'm sure there are other restraints on peoples armies not just your list, but this is the decision i took so we all had the same set of lists to choose from.
there is no difference in this as when you or anyone else runs a league or campaign, you can't please everyone, just look at the new rumble pack, i'm sure some people would love to take special characters but they cant as its in the rules Warren has done.
the only thing firelocks get as a bonus is they are not minus one to hit if they move. they are the same BS as normal musket guys in WHR.
as for the main rules they are as they are the same realy so we can use them both, it was only the army lists i wanted everyone to choose from the WHR pack.

I don't have a problem with the army lists we're using, they look fine as far as it goes. What they don't look like is very different to the lists in the ECW book. The basic structure of all of the armies is pretty much the same. Some of the options given to some of the troop types looks slightly reduced, and one or two units are missing from certain armies, but they don't really look that different.
Whether that's historically accurate I really wouldn't like to say, not being an ECW expert.
The lack of a basic firelock unit in the Covenanters list is only annoying as I've got enough figures to field a pretty big unit of them (24+), and my intention is to paint them up as standard covenanter's in Hoden grey and with bonnets like the rest of my units.
As long as the main rules are the same as the main ECW rules that's not a problem and I don't need to read them through. I'd only want to see them if some of the basic stuff, like how you can manoeuvre your units, etc isn't the same.
I'm already familiar with how the weapons work in the basic ECW rules, and stuff like the missile units have limited ammo (4 shots per game), so as long as I can just bring my ECW book down when I play my games and use that as the rules reference that's fine.

I have the rules so will be interested in how the games go. My army is unpainted so not able to paticipate but no wories may motivate me to paint it up.
Then I can buy some of those lovely plastic models.
Cheers
