A fantastic day had by all - made even better by an excellent turn out. One or two little tournie errors that have been rectified but have no bearing on the outcome of all awards today. It does help when slips are filled in correctly .
The winners were "Team Cross Swords" (a highly distrusted Daemon and dwarf combo) - Andi Avery and Guy Ringham who scored 62 tournament points and 4629 vps to boot!
Well done lads! I'll be seeing you in Bristol Tex!
Coming in second by just one tournament point was "Driving Miss Carstein" (Battle Brothers - VC/VC) - Paul Redmund and Emyr Mortimer-Roberts who scored 53 Tournament points.
Just out of the awards by that one point in third were " Ultimategaming 101" - (a daemon / Dark Elf combo) sired by Matt and Ant Howley with 52 Tournament points. Not bad for losing their first game. They did take sweet revenge and pulverised their next two opponents - to make off with the Phoenix Bloodthirster Cups scoring an impressive 5015vps!!!
The best painted force was almost unanimously given to Chris Smith of the "Undisclosed Virgins" team for his wonderfully painted Empire force. Nicely painted , textured right and based with conversions here and there. Nice one!
Best Sportsmanship went to the "we fight like Girls" team of Rory Deans and Darran Gwynne - truly good blokes!
.... and we don't like having certain people going empty handed because they came bottom of the pile. This was only by VP differences. "Gladiators" team of David Wilkins and Mike Armstrong gained the wooden spoon trophies and good sports they were at the award ceremony - kudos to you both!!
These two also get a free in to next year's Rushden Rumble 2011.
So refer back to this spot for confirmation.
A massive thank you to Will, Robert and Simon who gave up their time to come in as last minute replacements but they weren't needed after all. Steve and I have already discussed that you will all get a free night at the Phoenix gaming club for your troubles.
Thank you also to Carl, Stephen, Darrell, Andy, Edmund, David, Julie who all helped with the venue prep and doughnut fetching!
I would also like to add that a certain gentleman did actually contribute more than he should towards his entrance payment which went towards the trophies (with his permission mind) - The Phoenix Gaming Club would like to say a massive thank you to you Mr Thompson!
N.B. There should have been an extra 3 bonus points added to the score of the "Chimps Tea Party" to bring them up to 36 points - this made no bearing on their position (apologies guys).
See you all next year!!!
